The House God Built is moving forward. Plumbing rough-in is finished and electrical rough-in should be finished by the end of this week. After inspections and HVAC rough-in we'll be ready for drywall to be installed. Watch for information about when this will be starting as we'll need plenty of volunteers at that stage of construction.
Outside THGB we worked on digging forms for the front porch. Once those are inspected we'll be able to build the porch. As weather permits we'll begin siding the house also. Last week we got the fantastic news that the siding had been donated! We'll soon need people to hang it. Check back here regularly for news about when that will go up.
Many thanks go out to all who have donated materials or labor to this project! If you would like to sign-up to help check out http://www.thehousegodbuilt.volunteerhub.com/ or give us a call at 573-837-4047.

Great work day today, another great day planned for tomorrow
Today we got lots of work done. We still need your help on Sunday though. If you can help please sign-up or call with questions at 573-837-4047. Tomorrow we plan on the last bit of taping on the Tyvek, digging footings for the porch, assorted carpentry projects, finishing the expanding foam, continuing with the electrical rough-in and backfilling the trench with gravel.

Lots of progress this weekend
The house is now officially weathertight. All of the Tyvek is up but we still have a little bit of taping that needs to be completed. We can now work inside anytime the weather isn't good enough to work outside. Thanks to the many volunteers that helped out in brutally cold conditions this weekend we will be ready for siding soon.
We also made good progress inside The House God Built this weekend. Rough-in plumbing is nearly complete and various carpentry projects were completed as well. We are ready for electrical work to begin and will soon be ready for insulation. Once these are complete we'll be ready for volunteers to help with hanging drywall.
Check back again soon for updates.

Update for this weekend
The rock needed to backfill around the footings could not be delivered on Friday so that work cannot occur until next week. Also, the electrical plans are not in yet so the electrical rough-in this weekend may consist only of placing the electrical boxes where we can anticipate their need unless an electrician is available give us guidance. The remainder of our exterior and interior projects are still a go for this weekend. Hope to see you later at The House God Built.

We've got lots of work to do this weekend.
Come be a part of The House God Built this weekend. We would love to have you over.
Sign-up to help at www.thehouseGodbuilt.volunteerhub.com or call 573-837-4047.
We would like to set-up scaffolding and finish wrapping the house in Tyvek (the first floor is nearly wrapped already). The plumbing and electrical rough-in can also begin now and we can pour the footings for the front porch. If the rock is delivered tomorrow we can backfill around the footings on the new portion of the basement also. (A Bobcat would be really helpful if someone can bring one.)
In addition, we have some general site clean-up that can occur. We cut down a tree last week and need to do a little pick-up and haul off of the remainder of that debris.
Dress to stay warm but if all goes as planned we'll have heat for those indoors. Wear boots and gloves. Bring tools to be able to do any of the tasks listed above. Please respond with a comment if you have questions or you can give us a call at 837-4047.

Work continues today
Work at The House God Built continues today with some clean-up and other odds and ends. The shingles were finished yesterday. We still need to finish installing the Tyvek on the second floor to make the house weather tight. Rain and snow are forecast for tonight so we might have a slight delay with finishing the Tyvek. This weekend we'll be starting on plumbing and doing more of the interior work and any exterior work that weather will allow. Please come join us. What a weekend at THGB!
This was another awesome weekend at The House God Built. In fact, the last five days have shown unimaginable progress. When Wednesday began, all that existed at 529 S. Hanover was a basement but now it is really looking like a house. The exterior is framed up as is almost all of the interior. Shingles are going on today and once the Tyvek is completed, the house will be weather tight.
Just as important though, we enjoyed having the LaCroix confirmation class and their mentors working on the site Saturday morning. They helped move literally at least a ton of bricks and seemed to actually enjoy digging mud out of the basement. Their enthusiasm for serving was uplifting. Later we had a huge cookout on the vacant lot across the street. It was a great time of building community by fellowship while we took a break from building a house.
The blog also has a new feature that premiered this weekend. In the column on the right there is a button that says 'Construction Schedule'. Click on this for details on what has been done so far and what remains to be done. Items that are completely to the left of the vertical line are finished, items that straddle the line are in progress, and items that are to the left still need to be done.
Come back and take a look at the blog frequently as we'll update continued progress and opportunities to volunteer frequently.

THGB - Taking Shape
The house has really taken shape this week. Today we got the doors and windows installed, felt paper on the roof, and much of the interior framing completed. Thanks to the confirmation class of 29 kids and their adult mentors we moved several pallets of bricks and did some work towards preparing the basement for concrete. We also took down a tree in the backyard and took some major limbs off another tree that were too close to THGB and the neighbor's house.
On Sunday we hope to get the roof shingled and wrap the house in Tyvek before we have any more rain. If you can help please sign-up or call 573-837-4047 for more information.

The second floor is up!
Construction continues at a breakneck pace today. The exterior of the first floor has been completed and framing of the interior has already began. Roofing of the single floor portion of the house has also started. The exterior of the second floor is complete and the rafters are about to go up. We also found out that the roofing materials are being donated and delivered today so we will do the roofing tomorrow. Anyone who can roll out tarpaper and lay shingles is definitely needed.
Tomorrow we will also continue with any interior framing that needs to be completed, install windows and exterior doors, and wrap the house with Tyvek. Making the house weathertight as soon as possible is a top priority.
We will also do some dirt work and take down a tree. As was mentioned in an earlier posting, we need skilled and unskilled laborers, those who would be willing to assist with child care of those working on site, cheerleaders and cheerfollowers. If you fit into any of these categories please sign-up to help at http://www.thehousegodbuilt.volunteerhub.com/ or give us a call at 573-837-4047. Hope to see you tomorrow!

The first floor is done, on to the second floor
Great progress was made on the house on Wednesday. The day began with an open basement and finished with all of the first floor exterior walls in place. Thursday was pretty much a rain out but work is back on today. This morning the floor of the second floor is going in and the walls will follow soon after. A crane just arrived to place the rafters around lunch. If you have a few minutes to drop by the house today it should be exciting to watch the house really take its shape.
This weekend should also be a busy time at THGB. The weather looks cool but dry so there will be plenty of opportunity to work. We will be taking down a tree, doing some dirt work, and probably begin the interior framing. If the exterior has dried from yesterday's rains suffienctly we would like to get the Tyvek up as well. If you would like to volunteer for a couple of hours or have all day to give to The House God Built please sign-up to volunteer or call 573-837-4047 for more information.
